A MAN who threatened a lorry driver with a reported 'handgun' in Somerset remains in police custody after a chase saw armed police eventually track him down.
The County Gazette first reported the incident as events unfolded on Tuesday, April 24, when a man was seen near Wells with a weapon on show in a car.
A police spokesperson initially stated no threats were made, but more information has since come to light.
Specialist firearms officers, a National Police Air Service helicopter, and a drone unit, were among those who helped detain the offender after an hour long chase beginning in Croscombe, and eventually ending on Rowdens Road, in Wells at around 7pm.

The man, who was driving a car and caravan, had air weapons, a bow and arrow, a catapult, and a machete seized by police.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "A 58-year-old man has been arrested after a man was threatened in Wells on Tuesday, April 23.
"Officers were called at around 6pm to Shepton Old Road, in Croscombe, following a report of a lorry driver being threatened by the driver of another vehicle.
"Due to the nature of the threats, armed officers were deployed and were supported by the National Police Air Service and drone unit to locate the offender."
"The man was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and he remains in police custody."
