A MAN was detained at a bus station in Somerset on Thursday, May 9.

Police were called to Wells Bus Station at around 8:45pm last week to a report of disorder.

Roughly 30 minutes later receiving the report, officers detained a man who was suspected to be the cause of the disorder.

He was arrested on suspicion of behaving in a manner to intentionally cause harassment, alarm or distress.

Witnesses reported seeing police present with police dogs outside the station as the incident occurred.

Avon and Somerset Police stated the suspect was still in custody in a statement sent on Friday, May 10.

The full statement reads: "Police were called to a report of disorder at Wells Bus Station in Princes Street just before 8:45pm on Thursday, May 9.

"Officers attended and at about 9:15pm detained a man who was arrested on suspicion of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

"A 36-year-old man remains in police custody at this time."
