A HISTORIC tourist attraction in Somerset is set to host its annual boules tournament next month.

Sunday, June 30 sees the return of the Wells Annual Boules Tournament at the Bishop’s Palace.

The tournament is described as 'a fun event for families and clubs', and is organised by Wells Rotary.

Funds raised will be used to support the Wells Defibrillator and High Street First Aid projects.

For more information (or to even enter a team) email Chris at rotary.boules@outlook.com

Teams of four compete against one another in the glorious surrounds of the Palace Gardens, with time to enjoy a picnic on the lawn while regaled by the soothing music of the Panama Jazz band.

Anybody is welcome, as are all skill levels - all you need is a set of boules.

The first boule will be ceremonially chucked at 9.30am and all being well the grand final will be at 4.30pm.

Mike Love, of Wells Rotary, said: “Why not make up a team from family and friends, join in and support two community projects that touch the heart of our community."
