Obituary: Colin John Waudby Griffin
8:30am Wednesday 20th October 2010 in Obituaries
COLIN John Waudby Griffin died on October 6, 2010, aged 78.
After a long illness borne with courage, stoicism and a sense of humour, he died at home as he'd always wanted to.
Colin grew up in Wellington and after National Service he trained in America and Ireland before joining his father and brother running Egerton Burnetts, a major employer in the town until 1984, manufacturing uniforms.
Colin and his brother, Jeremy, then ran Griffin Brothers in Tone Dale until 2007. In total spending 50 years working alongside each other.
Colin was very active in the community, a Rotarian for 20 years, a parish councillor, school governor and church sidesman. He was a remarkable man with many talents including silver smithing and dowsing.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him but especially Jeremy and family and Colin's children, Zanzie, Alexander, Simon and Sarah and their families.
A memorial service will be held at St Peter's Church, Langford Budville at 2.30pm on Friday, October 29.
