PEOPLE on Taunton’s Halcon estate can learn how to better manage their money and avoid the clutches of payday lenders.
Somerset Savings and Loans first drop-in session is being held at the Acorn Children’s Centre on Tuesday, June 17 and will be opening from 9.30am to 12.30pm each Tuesday.
General manager Jackie Simpson said: “Our aim is to get people saving for rainy days and emergencies alongside Christmas and holidays.
“It’s important to give people a realistic alternative to doorstep lenders, loan sharks and illegal lenders.
“People will be able to join up, open savings accounts and apply for a loan.”
The not-for-profit co-operative organisation invests all its funds locally, keeping money circulating within the local economy.
