TWO people arrested on suspicion of wasting police time following a suspected hoax call that sparked a full-scale emergency services operation have been bailed for a third time.

A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were originally arrested on Wednesday, February 10, suspected of wasting police time following an incident two days earlier during Storm Imogen.

Police, fire and ambulance personnel rushed to the River Tone, off Priory Bridge Road, Taunton, after a 999 call reported someone had fallen into the water.

Firefighters launched a dingy in dangerous fast flowing waters, while ambulance crews were on standby and the police helicopter flew overhead during the two-hour drama.

The two suspects answered police bail on Monday, where they were again released on police bail until Monday, March 28 pending further enquiries.
