POLICE say they have arrested a second person after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed in Yeovil last night.

Two people are now in custody – a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy – after being arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The victim is now in a stable condition in hospital.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "We believe he was attacked in the library car park off Monmouth Road at just before 10pm last night.

"House-to-house enquiries will continue in the area today and we’re still appealing for anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Monmouth Road and Sherwell Close area last night to come forward."

The teenager was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after the attack in the Monmouth Road and Sherwell Close area of Yeovil.

Police were called to the scene at about 10pm on Monday.

DI Lee Jones, of Avon and Somerset Constabulary, said: "This was an extremely serious assault on a teenage boy and we're appealing for anyone with information about what happened to come forward.

"Did you see or hear anything suspicious in the Monmouth Road or Sherwell Close area of Yeovil this evening? Did you see any part of the incident?

"A full investigation is under way."
