THE Mare and Foal Sanctuary is calling for donations of unwanted clothing in order to keep its shops going over the colder months.

The charity has nearly run out of winter clothing, particularly women’s, which will leave its stores with very little to sell in the run up to spring.

Based in South Devon, the Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes horses in need, with its 10 charity shops providing a steady income for its work.

Area shops manager Sarah Hallett is asking for people to dig among unwanted Christmas presents and at the backs of wardrobes to donate what they can.

She said: “It’s so important that our shops keep going and we are desperately appealing for more clothing.

“Of course Christmas is a wonderful time and we all love receiving gifts, but if there’s anything of good quality that you don’t want, please think about passing it to one of our shops.

“As well as clothing, we would welcome good quality bric-a-brac, small furniture and toys.

“Please drop any donations to the Sanctuary’s shops in Newton Abbot, Totnes, Bovey Tracey, Kingsbridge, South Brent, Babbacombe, Dawlish, Brixham, Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth or at our Visitor Centre in Littlehempston.

“Thank you in advance for your ongoing support, we simply would not be here without you.”
