Take That tickets, a day's shooting and half a Gloucester Old Spot pig were just some of the 40 lots up for grabs at the second annual Cornish Supper & Charity Auction held at the Royal Cornwall Showground which raised money for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI), the Addington Fund and the Farming Community Network.

Edward Buckland Auctioneers led the event which generated in £9,200 for three of the region’s leading rural charities who carry out vital work in the community, providing discreet help and assistance to those in need.

The charity evening was supported by South West insurer, Cornish Mutual, accountancy firm Francis Clark and the South West Agricultural division of Barclays Bank who were also able to provide match funding of £2,000. Over 200 guests, which included shanty group the Boscastle Buoys and many Cornish Mutual Members, filled the Cornish Mutual stand opposite the Members Pavilion for the evening.

Edward Buckland of Edward Buckland Chartered Surveyors and Auctioneers, said: “We were all bowled over by this year’s result, simply amazing. The event showcased everything that is great about Cornwall, starting with a Cornish supper supplied by some of the Duchy’s best producers. From Take That tickets at the O2 Arena to Ginsters pasties, there was an amazing range of lots. We were overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness of everyone who attended. A huge thanks to everyone involved in the evening that raised a great deal of money.”

Events like these are vital to ensure that when people hit hard times, they have a trusted and confidential support network to fall back on. We are delighted that the evening raised so much for these worthy charities, and we thank everyone for their generosity.”
