Popular Devon agricultural expert joins Cornwall Farmers
John Gillett brings a lifetime of agricultural experience to Dartington store.
Cornwall Farmers has appointed local agricultural specialist, John Gillett, as Assistant Manager at its Dartington Store.
John joins from Mole Valley Farmers and brings with him a wealth of experience to the growing store, having worked in and around farming all his life.
The son of a farmer, John studied agriculture and farm business management at Bicton College of Agriculture before going on to manage estates in Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and Devon.
An accident in October 1992 which left John paralysed from the waist down and a wheel chair user, has not dented his passion for the industry and its people. With the addition of an All-Terrain Electric Buggy, John is able to attend local shows and go out on farm visits to talk to customers about their requirements.
John’s appointment comes as the store bids farewell to former Assistant Manager, Peter Timberlake, who has retired after 30 successful years with the company.
Peter welcomed John to the store just prior to his retirement when John visited the store to finalise access arrangements before taking up his post. John, who will be working closely with the store’s agricultural specialist, Hazel Tolchard, getting out and about to businesses and individuals in the area and supporting the growing store.
John Gillett, Assistant Manager for Cornwall Farmer store in Dartington, said: “I am very excited about joining Cornwall Farmers.
