A stunning 'real country girl' who mucks out cows for a living could become an international beauty queen, after winning a national beauty pageant.

Celena Wolfe, from St Tudy, has won the title of Ms Galaxy 2017, and is the first woman from Cornwall to win the competition in nearly 50 years.

Competing against 35 other contestants, Celena beat women from all over the country despite moonlighting as an equestrian coach.

Now she'll be going on to compete for the Ms Galaxy International crown in Orlando, Florida, and will once again be swapping her wellies for heels.

Celena works on a farm where she looks after more than 70 beef cattle, but that doesn't stop her from competing.

For years she has been entering beauty contests, after first being inspired by watching cheerleaders on the television.

She was previously crowned Inspiration Woman UK in 2015, and competed in the Face of the Globe competition.

Celena said: "It’s a dream come true, I’ve been working for this for two years.

"But this is where the hard work really begins, Galaxy, run by New York born Maria Torres, is the sixth biggest pageant system in the world and I intend to do the UK, and of course Cornwall proud.

"I am a real country girl. I love my farming, dogs and horses. but who doesn’t like to get glammed up every once in a while too.

“Most people are shocked at the amount of time, effort and dedication that goes into a competition for the whole year leading up to it.

"Then if you are lucky enough to win, a whole year after too.

"It’s full of charity work, making appearances and bringing awareness.

“The gowns and strutting about on stage is just one day in those two years. We have a saying in pageantry, ‘If you want a crown, buy one. If you want to lead and inspire, earn one’.”

Cornwall’s last national beauty pageant winner was Sharon Jermyn from Penzance who was crowned Miss Britain in 1975.
