Michael Eavis CBE has been announced as the new patron of Somerset Day, alongside His Grace the Duke of Somerset.
The founded of the Glastonbury festival has joined the festivities in advance of this year's celebrations, which take place across the country on Thursday May 11.
Somerset Day celebrates and champions all that Somerset has to offer for those who work live and play within the county.
It also marks the date that King Alfred the Great roused the people of Somerset to rise up and defeat the invading Danish Army in the year 878.
Michael Eavis is the English dairy farmer who, in 1970, founded the world-renowned Glastonbury Festival, which still takes place on his farm in Pilton, Someret.
Mr Eavis said: “Somerset is a county full of entrepreneurs and people who don’t take no for an answer.
"This place, where I was born, has given me the chance to do things that I wouldn’t have got away with anywhere else!”
