A Cornish cidermaking family is toasting their success after winning an award and a major supermarket deal.

Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm, Cornwall’s oldest cyder producer, is now distributing Cornish Rattler nationally via Tesco, after customers called for more local produce on the supermarket shelves.

In addition, the drink producer and visitor attraction near Truro has also celebrated winning gold in the British Bottlers’ Institute awards, highlighting the continued growth and success of the Cornish business.

Joe Healey, Commercial Director at Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm, said: “Rattler is our flagship brand and we’re immensely proud of its success. Thanks to its popularity we are now celebrating national distribution with Tesco, which is a fantastic achievement for the business and our family. We are delighted that even more people can head to their local Tesco and see our cyder on the shelves.

“The Tesco partnership comes as we celebrate another set of award wins, which shows that not only do customers appreciate being able to enjoy our drinks but so does the wider drinks industry.”

Having celebrated its tenth anniversary last year, Rattler has become synonymous with Cornish summertime, resulting in production increasing by 25 per cent in the last 12 months while the range has grown to include Pear, Berry, Mulled and a new flavour for summer 2017; Strawberry and Lime. Rattler Original bottle sales are also up by 40% year-to-date.

Rattler Original won gold in the British Bottlers’ Institute Awards for ciders abv 5.5% and above and Healeys Apple Juice also won the top spot in the fruit juices category.

Joe added: “These award wins help to highlight the rising popularity and growth of the Cornish food and drink market and we are so excited to be a part of it.”
