A show like the Royal Cornwall, with a national reputation in farming circles, has to ensure that standards keep on improving, year on year.

And that is just what visitors to Cornwall’s major annual event have come to expect.

This year the agricultural machinery section will be bursting at the seams again with the latest innovations and essential kit for the farmers – large and smaller scale – to browse.

The choice is vast, including all of the industry’s major manufacturers, and can be found all in one area. Millions of pounds worth of deals will be done there and then.

It’s the same with motors. Every kind of vehicle from 4X4s to quad bikes; utility vehicles to estate cars will be represented at the show and once again, choice is the keyword.

Just about every sector that supports agriculture will be represented here as well, from insurance and accountancy to vets and seed merchants.

Early indications are that the competitive livestock sections at the Royal Cornwall Show will once again be very well supported.

Last year sheep and pig entry records were broken and consistently high numbers of cattle and goat exhibitors headed to the far south west to compete and showcase the quality of animals being produced.

The equine section is always strong and will be no exception this year with over 1000 entries expected. The popular inter-hunt relay competition will undoubtedly whip up the usual excitement that the main ring crowds turn out in huge numbers to enjoy.

A new feature at this year’s show will be the welcome addition of the Cornwall Cider Championships. Amateur and commercial cider makers from near and far will compete in the inaugural chase for the coveted prizes.

This section will also include a Cornish cider bar, The Dreckly Inn, where show-goers can try probably the widest range of locally produced cider, all under one canvas roof.
