Greenslade Taylor Hunt report although later in the season for spring calvers, the bull trade remains vibrant when a Balbithan bred Charolais, entered as part of Mr WR Earp’s dispersal, topped at £2700. Mature Limousin bulls to £2650, when younger types sold to £2500 and £2000 for Mr J Plowright. Other Charolais to £2500 from Mr AS Cowling and £2000 from Messrs MD & NS Hibberd. (49m) Herefords to £1300 Mr B Calder.

The cow and calf trade was dominated by an excellent dispersal sale of mostly Charolais cross cows and calves from Mr WR Earp of Dorchester. The best outfit sold to £2100 for a 2010 born cow with December 16 born steer calf. Other outfits to £2000 for a 2012 born cow with November 16 born heifer calf. Others with 2016 born calves to £1900 x2. Cows with younger calves to £1850, £1780 and £1700. 10 cows and calves averaged £1847. Incalf cows sold to £1260 and served and confirmed incalf heifers sold to £1220 and £1180, when 13 head averaged £1097.

Top call was £142 (x2) from Messrs Potticks Pigs Ltd for Suffolk cross Scotch halfbred shearlings. Texel cross ewes to £140 from Messrs EM & AW Berry. Suffolk Mules to £138 from Messrs P & S Watts. Stock Rams (47): A good entry this week with 47 forward which overall sold to a good trade. Cracking 2T Texel from Messrs MW & S Edwards achieved the top price of £350. Messrs NF Clothier & Sons Ltd had a good run again this week with Suffolk 2T at £330. Others to £270. Mr J Buckle also sold a cracking Suffolk to £300. Overall average £180.

Goats (90): A large entry saw nannies to £107, £88 and £82 from Bagborough Farm Ltd and wethers to £79 from Mr R Foster to average £69.12.
