THERE is a diverse range of temptations at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s November antiques sale, which is on view this Saturday (October 29), between 9am and 12.30pm.

Whether your passion is paintings, diamonds or fishing equipment there is really something to satisfy every whim at The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton.

With Christmas approaching why not invest in a cocktail shaker in the form of a hand bell by iconic British luxury brand Asprey & Co. The cocktail shaker is estimated at £150 - £200.

Or for that special someone why not consider a Mont Blanc Writers Edition 'Marcel Proust' fountain pen. This attractive pen, inspired by the great French philosopher, is guided at £400 - £500.

If you are looking for a real festive dazzler then a late Victorian 29 stone diamond cluster brooch should fit the bill. This pretty piece has a pre - sale estimate of £3,000 - £,3500.

Also featured in the sale, which takes place on Thursday, November 3, is a pair of maritime paintings by William Barnett Spencer depicting a sailing ship 'Celerity' in becalmed and stormy waters. These are each estimated at £1,000 - £1,500.

The sale will also feature a significant selection of fishing equipment totalling over 120 lots. Amongst these is an Abu Garcia Suveran S4000M fishing reel. This is guided at £100 - £150.

A comprehensive range of sporting goods will also feature in the sale, which will also be on view on Tuesday (November 1) and Wednesday (November 2) between 9am and 5pm.

The biannual sporting sale held in October was an overwhelming success and preparations are already in hand for its spring counterpart, which will take place in April.

Highlights included an unusual Victorian silver mounted glass biscuit box by Heath & Middleton, London, shaped in the form of a horse’s hoof. A phone bidder paid £1,075.

Pictures also achieved a number of pleasing prices. Of local interest were a couple of signed oil paintings by Donald Ayres of Exmoor scenes. A room bidder paid £775 for “The Exmoor Hunt in the Doone Valley”, which had graced the front of the catalogue. The same sum was achieved for “At Tarr Steps.”
