THE comprehensive range and breadth of items coming under the hammer at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s November antiques sale is notable. Proceedings get underway at 10am today (Thursday) and a packed catalogue will ensure the auctioneers are kept busy throughout the day.

The well-regarded auction house based at The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton, has something to appeal to all tastes and budgets.

Silver has performed well throughout the year and there are a number of items likely to attract attention in today’s sale. An attractive Edwardian silver kettle on stand with burner is sure to be among them. It is by Harrison Brothers & Howson, Sheffield 1904, of rounded rectangular outline, with gadrooned and foliate embossed decoration, 35cm high, 24cm long, 1538g (49.6 troy ozs) gross, inscribed. It is guided at £400-£500.

Slightly more money is expected for a Montblanc writers’ edition Marcel Proust limited edition fountain pen. Issued in 1999 it comes with its original box and service certificate booklet, number 09253 of 21000. It has a pre-sale estimate of £400-£600.

The opportunity to own a small piece of the iconic brand of Asprey & Co presents itself in the shape of a 1930s cocktail shaker fashioned as a bell. It is stamped A & Co, Asprey London, and comes apart as three sections. It has a pre-sale estimate of £150-£200.

The sale will also feature an excellent range of sporting goods and a further installment of fishing equipment. This selection of shop stock from Wayne’s Tackle, Bridgwater, features around 200 lots.

Further fishing items will be included in the general sale at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, Junction 24, North Petherton, next Thursday (November 10) Viewing is available from 9am on the morning of the sale. The auction starts at 10.30am.
