GREENSLADE Taylor Hunt’s recent antique sale, on November 3, included a further instalment of fishing rods, reels and accessories from Wayne’s Tackle in Bridgwater and, once again, the shop-fresh selection was a sell-out success.
All 180 lots found new homes thanks to spirited bidding in the room and on-line, with much of the most intense competition focussing on the Abu Garcia reels. These included the Suveran S400M, pictured here, which was purchased for £185, and a Morrum M7700CT, for which £185 was also paid.
Two James & Sons ‘Mk IV Avon’ split cane rods were contested to a price of £395, while three Daiwa 12ft rods cost £160 and three Abu Garcia ‘Beachcaster’ rods were bought for £148.
For those who missed out on this occasion time has not yet run out altogether. Another large assortment of fishing equipment will be offered at today’s (Thursday, November 10) general sale, at Sedgemoor Auction Centre (J24 of the M5) with viewing from 8.30 am.
