AN unusual RAF Sector Clock is to be sold by Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne.
This decorative clock was made by F W Elliott for the RAF and has a 24-hour circular dial and painted segments. These clocks were produced for use on Military airfields to help monitor enemy aircraft and control friendly aircraft, and this example probably dates to the 1940s/50s.
The clock has a 13-inch (32.5cm) dial, single fusee movement and mahogany case. It comes in remarkably good order.
Lawrences Auctioneer Simon Jones said, ‘These RAF clocks are always highly sought after by collectors and don’t appear on the open market very often. We are expecting a great deal of interest’.
The clock will be sold in Lawrences Collectors' and Militaria Sale on Friday, May 12 and it is expected to make £2,000-3,000 in auction. For details about this sale please contact Simon Jones on 01460-73041.
