AUCTIONEERS at Greenslade Taylor Hunt are gearing up for two sales in April, the regular antiques sale and the biannual Spring Sporting Sale.

Entries are now closed for the sporting sale, which takes place on Friday, April 7, at The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton, and attracts buyers and vendors from around the country and overseas.

There is an excellent entry from a deceased Exmoor estate. Also certain to appeal among the painting section is a work by local artist Frances Mabel Hollams of a Labrador named Judy.

The autumn counterpart of the sporting sale saw “Carnation” Study of a Bay Hunter by the artist cause a flurry of interest on phone lines. It sold for £2,150.

Items are still being accepted for the antiques sale, which takes place on Thursday, April 6. Among the ceramics consigned is a rare Royal Doulton “Pierrette” from the 1920s/30s which is in excellent condition. The attractive piece – the female companion to a Pierrot - came from a local house clearance. The Art Deco style figurine is hand painted and has a pre-sale guide of £200-£300.

Regular valuation mornings are held at the salerooms on Mondays from 9am-1pm. There is no need to book. A range of experts is on hand to offer advice for insurance purposes, family division or sale. There is no need to book simply turn up. There is ample, free parking too.
