IT’S A busy week for auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt as they host two sales – the regular monthly antiques sale takes place today (Thursday, April 6) and the Biannual Spring Sporting Sale follows on Friday, April 7.

The specialist sporting sale is a much loved fixture in the antiques calendar and draws buyers and sellers from across the country and abroad to The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton.

Tomorrow’s sale has the added attraction of a comprehensive selection of items from a deceased Exmoor hunting estate.

The sale and its autumn counterpart which will take place on Friday, October 6, are put together by saleroom manager and countryside specialist Stuart Triggol.

These well considered sales offer a feast of finds for the sporting enthusiast across a vast gamut of disciplines including books, paintings, taxidermy, ceramics and bronzes.

The full spectrum of field sports are represented and lots on offer include hunting clothing, boots and hats along with hunting whips and riding crops, together with a good selection of sporting accessories.

Horsepower of a different type is represented by a good selection of Formula One memorabilia including Ferrari and a tribute to Ayrton Senna.

Other sports are also featured including fishing, where a broad selection of rods, reels and accessories are included. Archery, snooker and rowing items complete this wide-ranging event.

Today (Thursday) the focus will be on the monthly sale, where nearly 600 lots will go under the hammer including fine jewellery, silver and ceramics.

Both sales commence at 10am at The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton, with viewing from 8.30am.
