A FINE collection of Bovey Pottery figures, commemorating the significant personalities from World War 2, is to be sold by Lawrences Auctioneers of Crewkerne.
The Bovey Pottery in Devon produced a series of figures called ‘Our Gang’ which comprised politicians and other people connected to the War. This collection was assembled by a gentleman in Devon over the course of the last 30 years and it includes Stalin, Winston Churchill, Theodore Roosevelt, a ‘Land Girl’, a pilot, a Sergeant Major, an Anzac Soldier, a fireman, an A.R.P Warden, a Navy Captain, an eager little ‘Tommy’ and many more.
Lawrences’ Auctioneer Simon Jones said, ‘After the unprecedented price that a similar figure of Stalin made in our sale in April, our client has decided to part with his remarkable collection. These figures are very popular amongst collectors so it is amazing for a collection of 19 to come onto the market at one time.’
Estimates range from £50-£500, and they will be included in Lawrences July Fine Art Sale on Thursday, July 13.
