Top calves solid though no dearer with 2 smart Blue bulls from Messrs D & M Legg & Sons, Bridport to £470 apiece and a Charolais bull from Messrs SM & DM Turner to £465, others £415. Best bulls generally £350-£420, mediums stronger from £280-£350 and small bulls generally £200 plus other than the plainest types.

Heifer trade remains buoyant with Blues to £390 from Messrs AA House & Son. Others £354 from Messrs AJ & GD Bond, £336, £335, £334 and many more over £300. Simmental heifers to £320 from Messrs JC & MJ Mayo, others £300 and smart Limousin £348 from Messrs HT & ME Quick part of an excellent consignment. The strongest heifers mainly £300 plus, good types from £250, mediums a shade more selective at £170 plus and small heifers from £120.

Native breeds remain well contested though few of the very best types forward. Breeding Ewes (20): A handful of breeding ewes forward, being 20, sold to £100 from Mr T Phillips for Suffolk Mule shearlings. Overall average £94.45.

Goats (26): A smaller entry of 26 goats sold to £90 for strong wethers from Mr EJ Bladon to average £79.46.

Handyweight (571kg) Charolais at 215.5ppk from Mr J & Mrs J Meaker & Son, Langport. Greenslade Taylor Hunt report a larger entry of cull cows at 87 head met another very strong trade. No absolute best sucklers and a high proportion of belly waste amongst the black and whites pegged the trade. Yet still all those on offer sold well.
