EVERYTHING from a cocktail shaker to a reproduction post box is on offer at Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s antiques sale which gets under way today (Thursday) at The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton, from 10am.

Comprehensive does not really come close to describing the plethora of items on offer. Certainly among the most quirky will be a modern reproduction cast metal post box, red with gilt detailing, complete with hinged door panel and key. It is guided at £200-£250.

A more traditional offering is a bronze figure by French artist Edouard Drouor (1859-1945). It features a classically dressed female draughtswoman, seated with plans of a locomotive. It is signed to reverse, on a stepped rectangular marble base. It has a pre-sale estimate of £600-£800.

More affordable is a delightful silver cocktail shaker by Alexander Clarke & Co Ltd, Birmingham 1936. It has a guide price of £90-£120.

The sale will feature the usual range of jewellery, silverware, furniture, ceramics, books and collectables along with a notable section of West Country Art.

No fewer than 10 works by popular local artist Harry Frier will be showcased in the sale including a signed and dated view of Bishops Lydeard from 1905.

A charming picture of ponies on Exmoor graces the front cover of the catalogue. The oil on canvas of Exmoor Ponies near Simonsbath by Nancy Bailey (1913-2012) has a pre-sale estimate of £150-£200.
