Dairy Cattle (98): Greenslade Taylor Hunt report with a record December weekly market entry and bad vibes over milk prices in the national press, the signs for a continued good trade looked ominous. In fairness a super crowd around the ring ensured another very good trade for the best. However second quality saw a drop in both demand and trade.

Top price of the day was £1920 for a non pedigree heifer from Mr RB Cox. Others to £1910 for Messrs FG Summerhayes & Son.

Vendors HLJ 27 saw their heifers to £1840 and cows to £1780. £1820 for Mr PA Cleave, Bude, Cornwall. £1800 for Mr DR Evans’ “Deri” Herd, Carmarthen. £1780 Messrs M & K Churchill & Son. £1780 Mr AP Ractliffe. £1750 Messrs RJ & KL Emmett. £1740 Messrs Snook Ltd. Goats (91): A large entry of 91 goats sold to £109.50 and £98 from Bagborough Farm Ltd; £109 and £88 from Messrs DCW & DA Varney & Sons and £87.50 from Mr IP Merry. Overall average £73.40.
