FORGET chocolate eggs if you are looking for the ultimate in “eggscellence” then Greenslade Taylor Hunt is the place to visit.
The auctioneers have a charming limited edition Anthony Elson silver, silver gilt and enamel surprise egg in an eggcup included in their April monthly antiques sale.
Made in London in 1980 the cracking offering features a white enamel egg, which lifts to reveal a gilded clockwork carousel with a hen, rabbit and horse!
It is numbered 35 of 200 by the leading silversmith and stands at just under 11cms high. It has a pre-sale guide of £200-£250.
This and all the other entries for the sale will be on view at The Octagon Salerooms, East Reach, Taunton, on Easter Saturday, March 31, from 9am-12.30pm. There is another opportunity to view the sale on Tuesday, April 3, and Wednesday, April 4, from 9am-5pm.
However you will have to wait for the sale on Thursday, April 5, for an opportunity to bid for the egg.
