SEDGEMOOR’S second annual Starlight Sale of Show Potential Cattle drew a larger entry of 55. The pre-sale show was ably judged by Mr Eddy Morgan of Llandovery.

A very high standard was crowned by Mr JM & Mrs AM Lewis of Carmarthenshire with their five month old Aberdeen Angus steer. Shown by Dafydd Lewis, the steer sired by Liley Edd and out of a Blue cross cow went on to sell for £1,820 to Master Kian Frain of Launceston. The Reserve Champion was a nine month old heifer from Mr DE & Mrs SJ Cheacker of Bristol. Limousin sired and out of a Limousin cross Charolais this heifer went on to sell for £1,500.

Mr JM & Mrs AM Lewis also sold three other high priced animals. An eight month old steer, which won the best steer sired by a Limousin class, for £1,290 to Mr T Seaman. This one was out of a Limousin cross Blue cow. A five month Limousin heifer out of a Limousin cross Blue again, for £1,220 to Mr R Shreeve. The Reserve Champion Unhaltered Calf, being an eight month old purebred Limousin steer to Mr C Harris of Torrington at £1,200. Also at £1,220 was a class winner from Mr P Walker of West Midlands. This six month old Tweedale Ebony son sold to Mr T & Mrs K Bodily.

The Unhaltered Champion was from Mrs M Forward of Exeter, a nine month old Blue cross Limousin steer which later sold for £1,180.
