INSPIRATION might be closest to perspiration and baggsy is nine-tenth of the law but in order to find treasure at car boots you need to get up early and be armed with a bag of facts.

Getting up and out of bed early is the way to go when it comes to finding the illusive gold.

You must remember you will not and I repeat you will not find the Mona Lisa at a car boot, if you do see one it will either be a cheap print or a jigsaw - you have been warned.

What you need to do is go along and have fun.

You can buy a lot even for a fiver or a tenner.

You cannot make a bad mistake at a car boot or you will end up doing is come away with a lot of stuff you bought on impulse, what you need to do is shift the chaff from the wheat.

If you do this you could find yourself with Lozza’s Loot.

Car boots are a way of buying things cheaply, useful items which can be recycled so you are being very green and also a chance to but items which you might never have got in your youth and want to buy for a few quid.

I like to think ‘I have got the eye’ for finding a little bit of treasure.

Treasure to me could be junk to you and vice versa. It is after all in the eye of the beholder but make sure you bring a bag to carry away your swag.

My top tips to finding treasure at a car boot:

- Go early l Go with a set budget

- Know what type of thing or what items you want

- Check everything to make sure it meets what you want ie is it all there, what is the condition of the item etc.

- Haggle- it is part of the game.

- If there are a number of items you want from one stall, then buy in bulk and see how you can haggle to reduce the price.

- Remember it is all a bit of fun and a car boot is not a store, you will never know what you will find so be prepared for anything.
