RESIDENTS in Trull, Wiveliscombe and Wellington will trial new rights that give people power to bring jobs and homes to their area after Taunton Deane Council won funding to support the Localism Act.

Taunton Deane was one of 108 local authorities to be granted funding in the latest round of bids with £20,000 awarded to each of the Borough’s three pilot areas.

Cllr Mark Edwards, who holds the planning policy brief at the Borough Council, said: “There is going to be constant pressure for new housing and development within our communities and neighbourhood planning is one way of making sure that communities share in the decision-making process and have more influence over how communities will shape.

“These three areas of our district are all going to be under pressure over the next 20 years and this funding will give them the opportunity to shape that future.”
