The National Theatre Live is coming to The McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater with a number of pemiere screenings.

The company, based at London's South Bank, is one of the world’s leading theatre producers staging up to 30 productions each year.

The premiere screening includes the seductive drama, Les Liaisons Dangereuses on January 28 at 7pm, which follows the story of former lovers, the Marquise de Merteuil and Vicomte de Valmont who compete in games of seduction and revenge.

The production, based on Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 novel is a period production, performed in English. Directed by Josie Rourke (Coriolanus), the cast includes Elaine Cassidy (The Paradise), Janet McTeer (The White Queen) and Dominic West (The Wire).

The second broadcast is Shakespeare’s comedy, As You Like It, on February 25 at 7pm. This is the first time in over 30 years the production has come to the National Theatre and sees Rosalind (played by Rosalie Craig), banished in exile with her father, the Duke. Rosalind and her cousin Celia leave their lives in the court behind them and journey into the Forest of Arden and falls spectacularly in love.

The third, Hangmen, will be an Encore transmission on March 6 at 7pm. Set in a small pub in the northern English town of Oldham, Harry (David Morrissey – The Walking Dead, State of Play) is something of a local celebrity. The play follows the second-best hangman in England and what he does on the day hanging is abolished.
