DURING their summer concert, The New Horizon Singers presented cheques of £1000 to Carole Summerfield and Roy Hole representing S.U.R.E. (The Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment) and Debbie Birtwisle of The Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance. The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Hazel Prior-Sankey, supported the concert at The Taunton Baptist Church.
Inspired by their Musical Director, Elaine Thomas, and accompanist, Nick Thomas, the choir sang music ranging from songs made famous by Elvis, Lennon and McCartney and The Carpenters to traditional music and songs from the shows.
The audience appreciated the lively and entertaining renditions of favourites from "Camelot" and "South Pacific" by soloist Tony Blackshaw, baritone.
The choir will take a break until September when rehearsals will recommence on Thursdays at The Taunton Baptist Church.
