THE self styled smallest gallery in Somerset has recently opened the doors to it’s 10thtenth exhibition, a collection of heat fused glass pieces by artist Sally Kent.

Based at Bowdens Farm on the edge of Hambridge, the gallery is part of the design and digital marketing agency Teapot Creative. It runs on a non-profit making basis, taking zero commission on any sales.

Sally works with glass fusing int metal and other materials in a kiln at high temperatures to create a beautiful blend of colours and textures inspired by the wildlife, the coast and the countryside. The pieces in her Sugar Cube exhibition are a mixture of wall-mounted landscape scenes and free-standing or supported table-mounted pieces and coasters.

Like Kingsbury Episcopi based Sally, most of the Sugar Cube artists are all from the surrounding area. If there was a prize though for ‘closest studio’ then Sally would have won it hands down as until about six6 months ago her studio was next door to the Sugar Cube at Bowdens Farm, now the extension to the Teapot Creative studio.

Sally said:, “It’s great to be back at Bowden’s farm exhibiting my work just next door to my old studio in Somerset’s smallest but beautiful Sugar Cube gallery. Do pop in for a browse.”

The exhibition’s run has been extended to run throughout August so there’s plenty of opportunities to come up and see for yourself what Sally has been working on recently.

The Sugar Cube may be small but it has attracted enough attention from the artists community that it is fully booked through until the Nnew Yyear with exhibitions changing every two months. If you’re an artist interested in exhibiting your own work in the Sugar Cube then please do get in touch with the team at Teapot Creative. You can find the contact details on the Sugar Cube website.

The Sugar Cube gallery is open to the public, 8am-5pm (Monday-Friday).

*From September 17-October 2, Sally will be opening her studio in the garden at Kingsbury Episcopi for Somerset Art Weeks.
