A SPECIAL gala evening has been planned at The Brewhouse in memory a well-known figure Philip Knighton, who passed away in 2016.

The evening has been arranged by his wife and daughter and hosts an eclectic programme of music to entertain and inspire all tastes.

Acts already confirmed include: Andy Leggett, The Amici Choir, The Tone Valley Jazz Band, The Silver Street Band, Jules Bushell, Fodo Higginson and fresh from their Panto run the Wellington Operatic Society.

In addition to the main stage acts, the Taunton Ukulele Strummers Club will be in the bar greeting the audience on arrival and during the interval.

Funds are being raised for The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital and a grand raffle will also take place.

Speaking about the evening, Philip’s daughter Lizzie said: “Dad delighted in all things musical and he was known by many for his dedicated work at Apple FM within Musgrove and 10 Radio in Wiveliscombe.

"He had a fascination with all things ‘radio’ and ran a shop for many years in Wellington.

"In fact, we once received a letter addressed to for 'The Gramophone Man, Wellington'. Amazingly the letter found its way to him.

"We wanted to take an opportunity to recognise dad and all that he lived for and also to give a little back by raising much needed funds for Musgrove Hospital’s charity, “Love Musgrove” and in particular, ward nine at The Beacon Centre who cared for dad throughout his illness.

"Most families’, like ours, have been touched by cancer and we hope this evening will be a great way to raise monies for much needed lifesaving work and a chance to relax, enjoy some great music and have a fun evening."

A Night to Remember takes place on February 4 at 7.30pm.
