IT’S gearing up to be a great Summer as the Third Taunton Live Arts Festival 2017 will be in town.

In 2017, the Chinese year of the Fire Rooster and the 70th anniversary of independence for India, Taunton Live Arts Festival will be celebrating, mingling and theming events to celebrate the rich diversity of different cultures living in Somerset.

This is an opportunity from July 24-30, to celebrate all the genres of the arts in all its wonderful forms. From traditional Indian weaving seen alongside Somerset withy basket work; line-dancers will come face to face with Palestinian stick dancers; clog dancers will mingle with belly dancers.

Sculpture, poetry, music, dancing, theatre, artists sketching outdoors and much much more.Somerset County Gazette:

In addition we will have tasters of food and drink from around the world.

This a week of free Cultural events celebrating the Creative and Performing Arts in and around Taunton bringing much needed visitors, colour and a community feel to the town centre.

The main festival will be on the Castle Green and there will be events in Fore Street by Castle Bow, The Brewhouse and The Orchard Shopping Centre Organisers are working with over 20 local schools and Colleges for our Schools visual Art and Poetry competitions, over 30 local retailers ‘Adopt an Artist’ during the festival week with shop windows transformed.Somerset County Gazette:

They are working hard alongside local charities and community groups to produce our ‘Community Arts Banner Trail’, Street Art, Yarnbombing, Free creative workshops for all ages and abilities. Taunton’s Got Talent offers both young and old the chance to shine.

There will be poetry and a paintathon plus movement and dance.

Everyone is invited to be involved in this wonderful multicultural, Community Art event in Taunton.
