BRIDGWATER Operatic Society is looking to make it a White Christmas at the McMillan Theatre.

It is gearing up for its production of Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” from November 22-25 at 7.30pm.

There will be a Matinee Saturday, November 25 at 2.30 pm It may be a little early to be thinking of Christmas but tickets for this classic musical go on sale on September 18.

They are available online at bridgwateros.co.uk or call the box office on 01278 662181 Box office manager Sue Pomeroy commented that she had already been inundated with requests for tickets and was sure that BOS would again be faced with a sell-out production.

A must see classic based on the much-loved movie starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye it blends romance, mischief and misunderstandings with some of the greatest Irving Berlin songs ever written including Sisters, Blue Skies and the renowned White Christmas.

Add spectacular dance routines and costumes and you have the recipe for a show with that magical Christmas feeling.

In this special anniversary year the society has also just learnt that their production of “42nd Street” in May this year has scooped three nominations in the prestigious Rose Bowl awards, the amateur theatre’s Oscars.

In addition to being nominated for Best Musical, Mike Purnell has been nominated for Best Actor in a Musical Production for his portrayal of Julian Marsh and Maureen Wycherley for Best Actress in a Musical Production for her performance as Dorothy Brock.

Formed in 1907, BOS is one of the foremost Amateur Operatic Societies in the West region, presenting award winning musical comedy of an excellent standard.
