A unique Somerset Charabanc will be hitting the road to bring the community together.

The Charabanc in question is a large cart being pulled by Suffolk Punch Horses around Langport.

On it will be the actors and the audience and they will spend a late summer afternoon trundling round the Somerset lanes.

You will be able to join Pete and Ivan’s Tours of Somerset on The Somerset Charabanc.

This is a very special tour because Sam and Evie are getting married.

They only met yesterday but fell instantly head over heels in love.

As they find out what new-found love means, a ghost from the past comes out from the shadows.

Set and performed on a 1920’s miller’s cart pulled by two Suffolk Punch horses, The Somerset Charabanc brings audiences and performers together in an intimate, spellbinding outdoor theatrical adventure. Starting and finishing at The Rose & Crown Inn at Huish Episcopi the show passes through Langport, across the Somerset Levels to Muchelney and back again.

Nick White, Director of Wassail Theatre who wrote the play said: “We piloted it last year but have improved the script and have added some musicality into the show.

“In all honesty I don’t know of anyone else doing this type of play in Somerset or in the Langport area. I felt there was something right about it. There is a line in the play which talks about having a good old gawp around at a good Somerset pace.

"So I thought the the horse and cart was perfect for the pace of Somerset with the clip, clop, clip, clop.

“There is an incredible range of outdoor theatre going on at the moment and it is a popular form of theatre which goes back to the grass roots of storytelling.

"What the Charabanc will provided is an element of the unexpected and we hope the audiences who come along are spellbound by the magic and go away feeling they have a real connection with Somerset."

The Somerset Charabanc is being performed as part of LangFest17, but with performances the weekend before there are plenty of opportunities to jump on board.
