A HUGE diamondshaped installation will appear in the gardens at Hestercombe as part of Somerset Art Weeks Festival.

The emoji-inspired construction with mirrored sides is inspired by how we spend time in the landscape.

The work has been created by artist Jennie Savage and will be the “14th seat” for Hestercombe near Taunton.

Called “I Like Everything” the art work will be situated in Rook Wood as an addition to the current 13 historic garden seats across the landscape, which include the Octagon Summerhouse, Rustic Seat, Witch’s Hut and Mausoleum.

The creation is part of “A Landscape of Objects”, a series of site-specific commissions, artist residencies and curated shows, each taking a different approach to some of the cultivated landscapes across Somerset, their spirit of place and local identity.

The mirrored structure will reflect the canopy of the trees and the floor of the meadow, deconstructing and fragmenting the view and allowing visitors to engage with the detail of the landscape rather than the big picture.

“I Like Everything” will be at Hestercombe from September 23 as part of Somerset Art Works Festival.

Artists will welcome visitors to artists’ studios, manor houses, country cottages and museums in the county.
