MEET the gang coz the boys and girls are here to entertain you.

The Taunton Scouts and Guides 2018 Gang Show rocketed into space blasting off with style and aplomb.

The energy bursting, effervescence was expounded and exploded in a joyous set of musical numbers.

Innovation was inspired by the different sets which were built for numbers like Rocket Man, The Silent Monks, Shiver Me Timbers, On the Tracks and Milkmaids-all of which were raised by the standard of sets.

The first half of the show was laced with foot tapping tunes and numbers which kept the action going.

Somerset County Gazette:

Clearly a lot of thought had gone into coming up with some sketches/musical numbers and making them work so well.

One which caught the eye was The Silent Monks, the way in which the words-action were conveyed without anyone speaking or uttering a word or a singing a note was expertly choreographed.

Sometimes it was the unexpected delivery of some songs, done in a different way or hearing them stripped down like in the case of the Elton John section called Rocket Man.

The second half of the show continued with much the same pace as the first. It started slowly with a number called On the Tracks which included a steam train (named Gang Show 2018), and then built up speed as the show raced along to a fantastic finale.

It was full steam ahead from the 'The Gang' as they rattled through Fatitude, Fabulous Feet, Milkmaids, Yer Tiz, Crash Bang Wallop and the finale.

Somerset County Gazette:

Two of the songs which got all the crowd singing along were two Wurzels hits, I am a Cider Drinker and I've got a brand new combine harvester. It was just like someone sitting behind me said after this mass sing-a-long 'Only in Somerset would you get this'-and what is wrong with a good old fashioned sing-a-long.

And with that it was over, the opening night of the 2018 Taunton Scouts and Guides Gang Show.

Having seen the show in 2017, the 2018 was even better and I have no doubt everyone involved with the show will be aiming to go one better again.
