IN LIFE Johnny Cash walked the line, sticking it to the man and being a hero to thousands of people.

One of those who came under the spell of Cash was Clive John who now plays him in The Johnny Cash Roadshow which will be in Yeovil on April 13.

Clive said: “Johnny Cash was always part of my life as my mother was Irish and growing up I used to hear country and western music.

“So as an artist he has always been in my life. I am a singer songwriter and I have released 9 albums of my own and cover albums of Johnny Cash songs.

“Johnny Cash has such a catalogue of music he covers all the genre of music I like which includes country and western, rock and roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, and gospel.

“He was a rebel which also mixed with his good side.

"He was a fascinating character.

“In the show we cover all his music from the 1950s-60s-70s-80 and his later recording in the 2000s.”

The Johnny Cash Roadshow is the only show to be endorsed by the Cash family.

Speaking about the show. Clive said: “This is basically the closest thing you will get to a Johnny Cash show.

“We have a lot of film clips which we use and the show is upbeat. We have some amazing singers and musicians and as someone who likes harmonies I like to keep this in the show.

“If there is a chorus or a moment in the songs which need more harmonica or longer singer then I will throw it in.

“During a show we cover between 38-40 songs.”

As Clive explained he has a number of items which Johnny Cash owned like some harmonicas, hotel keys he once used and photographs all given to him as presents.
