SOMERFEST is back.

A day of performances and activities will be spread across the centre of town in Castle Green, Somerset Square, The Orchard Centre, Morrisons Band Stand, North St, High Street and Goodland Gardens will take place on June 16, from 11am-6pm.

Somerfest will celebrate Taunton’s status as a Garden Town and the 250th founding of Circus in UK.

Fuseperformance, the organisers, have created an exciting programme of live music, outdoor spectacle, theatre, dance, sports, arts, circus, acrobatics and aerial trapeze.

There will be performances in Castle Green from Avanti Display - The Spurting Man, a performance and water extravaganza; the funny hula-hooper Angie Mack and Fraser, a great comic performer.

Enjoy the Green Crafts and wildlife area in Goodland Garden Wild Arts and Green Crafts area. There are a fusion of sounds and musical styles: acoustic folk, Celtic, reggae, Indian Bangra and Punjabi classics.

Wander through the Goodland Garden Plaza area with an array of stalls and music and featuring Joe Garbett Dance, “Doubles”, where ping pong and dance collide and with performances from local groups Make Performing Arts and Wassail Theatre.

In Somerset Square by The Brewhouse Theatre, enjoy Plunge Boom where the Vegetable Nannies invite you to befriend, feed and comfort the baby fruits and vegetables and Hikapee To the Moon present a theatrical children’s theatre. In Morrisons Band Stand, listen to the Wellington Silver Band and at Pegasus Court visit the Austen 7 vehicle display and find out about the Grand Wessex Tour.

This year’s Somerslam will take place in Goodland Garden (11.30am Youth Slampoetry and noon Somerslam).

Workshops are taking place in youth groups throughout the area or come on the day and share your poetry at 11.30am in Goodland Garden Green, Talking Tent.
