THERE was a famous advert in the 1970s for Pepsi.

It had the tag line of lip smacking, thirst quenching, ace tasting, motivating, good buzzing, cooltalking, high walking, fast living, ever giving, cool fizzing, Pepsi ...

The tag line was spoken in a machine gun way, very fast and swiftly.

This is the style of Leen Nelson in his Serious Joker tour.

He is the new Max Miller, a vibrant cheeky chappie for the 21st century.

Lee Nelson (Simon Brodkin) had the audience in the palm of his hand even before he appeared at the Brewhouse Theatre in Taunton, last night, Thursday.

The jesting joker did in total one hour and 45 minutes.

The first part was 45 minutes in which his jokes were tailor made for his audience.

He made sure their was plenty of local refferences throughout.

Such as when he asked the audience if there was anyone in from Bridgwater?

To which a number of hands went up and Lee replied: "Thanks for coming and blowing all your benefits to see me".

As a comedian he did engage with his audience throughout the show.

There were four lucky or four unlukcy souls, which ever way you looked at it, who were ribbed from start to finish.

But you have to say they loved it. It was all done in fun.

No matter what he asked the audience and no matter what they came back with, he never missed a beat.

He was not flumuxed by anything. He had an answer for everything and if he didn't he admitted he could not do better.

The second half of the show was more talking and tales from Lee.

He covered a wide range of topices from Brexit, Trump, immigration, being a parent, being married...everything under the sun.

I truly wasn't sure what to expect, having only seen clips of Lee Nelson when he appeared on BBC 3.

I had interviewed Simon Brodkin before the show, so I knew he was amusing.

But what about the show? I knew it would be funny, but what struck me afterwards was how well crafted the routine was from teh first word to the last.

I can honestly say I would go back again to see Lee Nelson.

If you get the chance to see one of his shows, then buy a ticket, go along and you will have a great time.

It is as the title of the show says Lee Nelson: Serious Joker-he takes comedian seriously and it showed in teh quality of his act.
