THE Brewhouse cinema is showing Room, the BAFTA and Oscar winning film based on the best-selling book by Emma Donoghue. It recounts the plight of Ma (Brie Larson) and her five-year-old son Jack (Jacob Tremblay) held captive by Old Nick (Sean Bridgers) in the confines of a backyard shed.
More than just a film about horrific psychological and physical abuse, Room explores the profound effects on both Ma and Jack of confronting their ordeal and attempting, after their eventual release, to adjust to a world that is judgmental and uncertain for Ma and totally new and unimagined for Jack.
