Fire crews from Taunton, Burnham and Exeter are now dealing with a scrapyard fire near the Glastonbury site.

At 11.16am Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire at Rossiters scrapyard in Pylle near Worthy Farm where the festival is held.

A fire engine from Shepton Mallet was first in attendance and given the severity of the fire it was decided to call in ten fire engines and the High Volume Pump and various other specialist appliances.

A fire service spokesman said: "The scrapyard covers four acres in total and there are numerous vehicles, structures and gas bottles heavily involved in the fire.

The fire escalated to 15 fire engines and the high volume pump was also requested from Taunton and the bulk foam tender was also requested from Burnham.

At 14:01pm the fire service incident commander requested a further high volume pump, which came from Exeter.

The fire service spokesman added: "Crews are currently at work setting up the Somerset high volume pump.

"The environmental pod from Devon has also been requested to the incident ground.

"Numerous appliances are in attendance from all over the county of Somerset and from neighbouring counties."
