Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service have now downsized their presence at the scrapyard blaze near the Glastonbury site.
Earlier today 16 fire engines were tackling the blaze at Rossiter's scrapyard in Pylle, including crews from Taunton and Burnham.
Eight fire engines are at the scene working with environmental equipment to prevent any contamination of water by diesel and foam entering water courses.
The blaze has been surrounded, and firefighters are cooling acetylene cylinders.
The A37 has been closed between Beardly Batch and Wraxall.
