Gold Beaches and Gold Markets
When taking a holiday to the fabulous region of Dalaman, you will find there are many resorts to choose from. In this area of Turkey there is a resort to suit every type of traveller no matter what your needs and requirements are.
The area has a typical Mediterranean climate with long and hot sunny summers with many of the days seeing up to thirteen hours of sunshine per day and even some days the temperatures can reach up to forty degrees Celsius. The winter season in this region is very nice indeed, with temperatures hardly ever dipping below seventeen degrees Celsius and the rainfall being very rare. This area also boasts an approximate three hundred and twenty days of sunshine per year so is a perfect destination to get away from our winter blues and get that well deserved sunshine break in the winter.
The beaches in this area are some of the greatest in Turkey, if not in the whole world. Olu Deniz has one of the most photographed beaches probably in the whole world and you will discover this beach is featured on many postcards you buy from any resort in Turkey.
Dalaman is the airport that you fly into and the furthest transfer is probably Icmeler which is approximately two hours by coach. On arrival into Turkey you will need to pay ten pound per person in Sterling English notes. This is an access visa and allows stays for up to ninety days. Everyone has to pay this and you really need to make sure that the ten pound note is clean and free of writing as they are only funny about the condition of the notes.
There are many trips to take advantage of when you are taking Dalaman region holidays and some of the best ones to discover are the magnificent white rocks of Pumukkale and the fabulous ancient ruins of Ephesus. One of the other attractions of Turkey is the Turkish baths and the mud baths which are a definite must do when you are here and they can be booked at any of the resorts you decide to visit.
If you want something for all the family, from plenty of activities to numerous entertainment venues why not try one of the big resorts available in the region. If you want to travel to this area of Turkey but are unsure of which resort to visit then below are a few of the main resorts with a brief description to try and help you decide.
MARMARIS This area is the most vibrant and energetic of all the resorts in Turkey. It has many bars and restaurants with a very lively and up beat atmosphere at all times of the day. The transfer is approximately one and a half hours from Dalaman airport. There are numerous water sports to involve yourself in on this fabulous long stretch of beach. The shoppers who travel here will find the bazaars and the weekly markets extremely tempting.
ICMELER This area is very laid back and relaxed and is a massive contrast to the neighbouring resort of Marmaris just a couple of minutes down the road. Again, the resort has an attractive beach with loads of activities to keep you busy should you want it. There are many shopping areas and a weekly market that is held on a Wednesday and it also offers many restaurants and bars just on a lower key than Marmaris, however, Marmaris is very accessible and is only a couple of minutes down the road in one of the Dolmus' if you fancy a livelier night out.
OLU DENIZ This resort has a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere and is famous for being the lazy beach destination. The resort presents wonderful beaches with stunning clear, blue seas. Shoppers will adore this area with numerous outlets in a wonderful shopping area selling everything from beautiful designer jewellery to bric a brac and souvenirs. There are restaurants to suit everyone's taste with the majority of them being situated on the seafront.
SARIGERME This is a rather new and fresh resort to the UK market. It is a charming little resort with a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. This area's hotels are usually on an all inclusive basis due to there not being many restaurants and bars around and about. It is still quite traditional and offers travellers a beautiful beach with shallow seas, however, you will have to pay a very small entry charge to the beach as this helps with the upkeep and maintenance of the beach. Families with small children find this resort a desired area due to the transfers taking a mere twenty minutes compared to some of the two hour transfers to other resorts.
FETHIYE This is Olu Deniz's neighbouring resort offers much the same as Olu Deniz with a one hour transfer. The desirability of this resort has got to be the markets that they put on. There is a local market every Tuesday and the famous Gold Market where you can pick yourself a bargain up. Fethiye will offer various tourists with one of the most marvellous marinas in Turkey. It is here you can enjoy a truly outstanding meal in one of the numerous restaurants.
So what ever your tastes or your needs and requirements for a summer or winter break Dalaman region holidays will suit everyone and this information will hopefully help you decide on your perfect resort in the area.
