BE amazed at the spectacular Winter Lights Parade winding its way through Taunton on Thursday, December 17 (6pm - 9pm) Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20 (4pm - 7pm) Over 300 children from a number of schools took part in the first parade earlier this month which included a 12 metre dragon created by children from Halcon Primary school.

The Winter Lights continues on Thursday 17 (with late night shopping) Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 starting at dusk with a fire and light installation and performances on Castle Green.

FOLLOW Snow White and her Seven Dwarfs to The Regal Theatre in Minehead. Audiences young and old will enjoy this thrilling adventure involving the wicked Queen Caligula and her henchmen, two fairies, the loveable Dame Dolly Dumpling, her happy go lucky son, Danny and, of course, a handsome Prince.

The Minehead Panto People bring their annual festive offering to the Regal from Monday, December 28 – Saturday January 2, so grab your tickets while you still can.

FEEL in need of a laugh? Then pop along to the Bridgwater Arts Centre where giggles are guaranteed at the Genius Comedy show. Chortle with top acts including Susan Murray, Thom Tuck, Ian Miller and Taco. Compere is Cerys Nelmes. Saturday, December 19.

TAKE part in the Taunton Running Club annual tinsel run around the town with club members and friends. Why not wear Christmas fancy dress and spread good cheer and Christmas greetings? Meet at 6:30pm from the Bridge in Taunton. Tuesday, December 22.

TRAVEL to exotic lands with Aladdin, this year's exciting panto from Scarlett Entertainment at the new McMillan Theatre in Bridgwater. Thursday, December 17 and Friday, December 18 at 7pm. Also Saturday December 19 at 2.30pm and 7.30pm.

HAVE a ho-ho-ho with Father Christmas who has come all the way from the North Pole with lots of gifts for all the children who have been good this year. He will be at The Museum of Somerset on Saturday, December 19 from 10am to 5pm. Best to book in advance by calling 01823 255088.

CHECK out the fun activities the Together Team, East Bridgwater and its partners have been busy preparing for the festive season this Saturday, December 19.

The Sydenham Community Centre is open from 12-4pm with free mince pies, hot drinks, a raffle and some carol singing. Make your own Christmas decorations with the help of a local artist. There's also an older persons coffee morning at the Sydenham Community Centre from 10 to 11.30am, a family fun afternoon at Bridgwater College Academy Sports Centre from 1.30-3.30pm and the chance to meet Santa. Avon and Somerset Police and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue will also be on-hand with stands in Bridgwater College Academy Sports Centre car park.
