ILMINSTER Arts Centre celebrates the incredible musical legacy of Hoagy Carmichael with a tribute performed by the Chris Ingham Quartet.

His parents thought he was destined for a career in the railroads, but Hoagy Carmichael (born in 1899) had other ideas, becoming one of the most successful of the Tin Pan Alley songwriters of the 1930’s.

Wry, wise, sentimental, down-home and sophisticated, Hoagy Carmichael’s songs are beloved for their warmth, wit and melodic beauty.

This joyful, edifying and heartfelt salute to the Old Music Master features many engaging anecdotes and insights along with tracks from Chris’s acclaimed CD Hoagy including well-loved hits (Stardust, How Little We Know, Georgia On My Mind, Skylark, Ole Buttermilk Sky, Lazy Bones, et al) alongside obscure nuggets and delightful curiosities from Hoagy’s rich and varied songbook.

Chris Ingham is a singer-pianist, writer, composer, and producer who has been steeped in music since childhood.

Tickets for the show on Friday, March 9, cost £15 (pre-show supper £15 at 7pm, must be pre-booked).
