A CLASSICAL American guitarist aims to make every member of the audience feel part of the show.

The American in question is Valérie Hartzell who is originally from Rhode Island in New England and she will be giving a concert at Aisholt & Merridge Village Hall (Lower Merridge Nr Spaxton Somerset at 3.30pm on May 13.

One of her biggest break came when she was picked from 117 artists to appear on the BBC Introducing Artist (Radio 3), at the Latitude Festival last year.

She was the first classical guitarist ever to have appeared on the BBC Introducing Artist and it is a fact which she is extremely proud of achieving.

Valérie first became interested in playing the guitar when she was three years old and listened to her mother.

She said: “I used to hear my mum playing guitar and I wanted to do that myself.

"I wanted a guitar. I was one of my mother’s first pupils in learning to play the guitar.

I played a lot of classical guitar music and then I discovered rock ‘n’ roll and this opened up a whole new world of music which I could incorporate into my act such as Led Zeppelin and The Beatles.”
