Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald and Michelle Connor’s wedding will be a day to remember, the soap’s producer Stuart Blackburn has revealed.
The couple, played by Simon Gregson and Kym Marsh, have had a rough time lately with Steve’s depression, but they are set to put that aside for a memorable big day – on home ground – in coming months.
“It’ll be a register office wedding, followed by a proper old-fashioned Coronation Street party. Everyone’s going to chip in,” Stuart told TV Times.
“They’ll get chairs and tables from Roy’s Rolls, and some of Michelle’s contacts will be helping out. Carla (Connor) will be there in her dungarees at four in the morning, helping to put up the bunting and the marquee.”
Kym said the wedding will be something the pair can look forward to, following the minibus crash, which left driver Steve feeling guilty and left Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) with life-changing injuries.
She said: “Michelle loves Steve more than ever. They’ve been through so much that it’s brought them closer together.”
