Andy Samberg has admitted he was inspired to cast Kit Harington in a new TV comedy after googling “British actors”.

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star has created TV film 7 Days In Hell which follows a seemingly endless tennis match in which he stars as an American player, and said he wanted to find a UK actor to play his opponent.

Talking to Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he said: “I’m like Agassi bad boy of tennis mixed with McEnroe American, and Kit’s character is like Andy Murray, the weight of Britain on his shoulders kind of a Brit guy.”

Revealing that he was a big fan of fantasy series Game Of Thrones in which Kit plays Jon Snow, Andy said he was thrilled with his casting.

He explained: “So we were like, we need someone relatively fit within this age bracket, so we googled ‘British actors and age bracket’ and a bunch of really cool dudes came up. But we saw Kit and I was like, ‘Holy c**p, could we get Jon Snow to be in this? That would be incredible!’

“Because I’m a huge Thrones head. Everyone who knows me knows I’m a Thrones head. So we basically called him up and sent him the script and I went to have a meeting with him and I was like, ‘I’m gonna pitch this thing to Jon Snow and see what he thinks,’ and I sat down and was like, ‘Hey, I’m Andy,’ and he’s like, ‘Hey, I’m Kit, I love the script, I want to do it!’.”
